Folder Splitter - Manual![]() Folder Split Window - Click to enlarge Folder Split Window Folder Splitter will split a large folder into several smaller ones. This is espacially helpful, if you want to backup large projects, collections, etc. by burning them to CD-Rs or DVD-Rs. The files are not changed, compressed or "archived" in any way, so after your backup you can easily put in the CDs and use any file without the need to "restore" them to your hard drive first. During the "Folder Splitting" a LogFile will be created, which keeps track of every file. (This LogFile can be found in the User's "Application Support" folder.) Optionally the log can be copied into every "splitted" folder and thus burned onto the CD/DVD. This way, if you are looking for a specific file, you can put in one of the CDs, open the LogFile and know, on which CD to find that file. Use the "File Menu --> New Folder Splitter Window" Command to open the window. The window is split into two parts: On the left side you will find all neccessary settings for the "Folder Splitting": Source Folder, Destination Location, Maximum Size of Destination Folders and so on. On the right side is a Help Box, which will display tips. Click on the picture above to see an interactive Demo! ![]() Folder UnSplit Window - Click to enlarge Folder Unsplit Window If you are looking for a specific file in your backups, you do not need to "restore" the file to your hard drive before using it. But sometimes you have to restore the complete project. Folder Splitter will help here too by providing a "Folder UnSplitter". Select the Source Folder(s) (all at the same time or sequentially) and the Destination Location and Folder UnSplitter will restore the project to your hard drive: The "Folder Splitting" will be reversed. Select the "File Menu --> New Folder UnSplitter Window" Command. On the right side all settings for the "UnSplitting" can be made: Source Folder(s), Destination Folder, What to do with Duplicates, and so on. On the left side you will find the Help Box. Click on the picture above to see an interactive Demo of the UnSplitter Window! |
